Chocolate Chip Cookies

I remember when I first saw my cousin letting her son play with a cooking set years ago, my immediate reaction was 'Naku, delikado yan! Boy? Cooking?' But my cousin just shrugged and said that's what her son likes.

When Troy was 3, he also developed a love for cooking. He asked my sister to buy him a cooking set - to which she did, against my reluctant will. My sister said 'Color blue naman eh' - okay, fine.  I remember thinking he should only be playing with cars, robots and action figures. Not cooking!

Two years have passed and he still loves to play chef and waiter. He loves to take orders, cook the food, and serve them. I have now come to appreciate his love for cooking.  I love how he diligently takes orders and even suggests food that are available. I love how he always asks his little sister to join in the fun and help him cook or serve the food. It has now become their favorite playtime together.

To futher encourage his love for cooking, i often engage him in some cooking/baking activities as shared here (mini pizza and fish fingers) and here (Nutella Breakfast Roll-ups). Last Saturday, we made some chocolate chip cookies.

Place batter/dough in a baking pan

For kids, i find it's easier to use cookie-cut pans

You may also opt to just put 1 tablespoon of batter/dough but make
sure you allow for space for the cookie to spread once baked

Pre-heat oven to 350 F
Allow 5 minutes for cookies to cool after
you take them out from the oven
Troy enjoyed the experience immensely! I'm very happy since Troy did 90% of the work by himself. It's a labor of love and it tastes good too!  It is actually baby-sister-approved. As Dawn would say 'It's soo yummy, Ahia!'

The first batch is almost done. We're doing batch #2 next week :)

Fashion Forum is on SALE!

Last February, i was invited by Tin of MFO to SM Makati's Fashion Forum. To be honest, I rarely visit SM these days so I had totally no idea what Fashion Forum is all about. But the inner fashionista in me really wanted to be there. So i made sure i made time amidst my busy corporate life. And i did not regret it!
Standing, left to right: Carissa (Fashion Forum), Neva (ManilaMommy), Conci
(Memoirs of a Bitch), Jenny (My Mommyology), Pam (RunAroundGirl), Me,
Valerie and Marge (BC Magazine), and CarRet (Fashion Forum).
Seated, left to right: Kat (Kat Dy Finds), Karrots (Live Love Lolz),
Kris (OCMomInManila), and Tin (Manila Fashion Observer).

We met at SM Makati's Prestige Lounge and proceeded to tour the Fashion Forum section at the 3rd floor.  Carisa Chan of Fashion Forum actually flies to New York regularly to select the pieces and bring them to the Philippines. Such a dream job for a fashion lover! Carissa explained that she only buys limited quantities so that you won't find yourself in the same outfit as everyone else. Fashion Forum actually started in 2008 and was revamped in 2009. They brought in more brands in 2010 and opened more branches in other SM malls in 2011.

Most of the brands that Fashion Forum carries are the same signature brands that we see in US department stores such as Nordstrom's and Macy's. They usually retail at around $100 in the US which is not bad for signature brands. The good news is that Carissa has excellent negotiation skills and was able to bring the items to the Philippines at practically the same prices or even lower! Imagine that!

The items range from day-to-night dresses, gowns, and shoes! They have sizes from 0 - 16 so most women of all shapes and sizes are covered!

shoes Neva wore are also a FashionForum find.

This Jeffrey Campbell pair looks sooo good when worn! I am going back for them!

Movie Stars Cafe

A few weeks ago, my sister-in-law was telling me about a newly opened concept restaurant near Mall of Asia. She said it had a movie star theme very similar to Planet Hollywood in the states. I was intrigued and honestly thought that since it's a local version, it will feature local artists and movies. When she mentioned actors and actresses will be serving our food, i was even more intrigued...really, mga artista???

It turned out, the servers all wore costumes from hollywood movies. From the likes of Spiderman to Darth Vader, it was really a fun experience. We brought Troy there on his 5th birthday last March 7 and he was truly star-strucked! The place displayed a lot of Hollywood memorabilia which they say are authentic pieces from the states. They had shows every couple of minutes which was both entertaining to kids and adults. It was indeed so much fun for the whole family!
